Spring & the Adaptive Services AuctionPosted by: Helen Breņa on 02.29.16 at 12:00:00 am
While I am disappointed with winter this year (I love a cold, snowy winter), I know many of you are thrilled that it has been a mild one. Either way, as the end of February approaches, we all start to think about spring. Even the birds' chirping reminded me of it this morning as I took a walk in the woods.
One thing that I always look forward to with spring is our Adaptive Services Auction (April 7th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport). It's always a fun night. I think of it as a delayed Christmas – at the end of the night you check out and see what “presents” you've “won”. Yes, you have to pay for your presents, but it's still fun to be surprised.
Moving to a more serious note, it's also run for a great cause. You see, there are many people who are struggling with chronic disease, physical challenges, or intellectual challenges. The Y can make a difference in their lives – and we do. By providing individual or group support, we are able to guide people who struggle with cancer, spinal cord injuries, strokes, and other challenges to gain the strength, relationships, and inspiration they need in their journeys. Check here (link to a video?) for one such story. It's inspirational.
So, will you join me on April 7th? I hope so! You can bur your tickets by searching "auction" here.
PS – If you can't attend you can still donate money or an auction item to support the cause. Find out how here.
