Welcome

Founded in 1853 and incorporated in 1860, the Portland YMCA is the twelfth oldest of the 2,283 YMCA's in the United States and the largest in Maine.  Our historic facility is home to two pools, the beautiful Studio A classroom, a fitness facility, a gym, four recently renovated courts, 3 for squash and 1 flex court, and many other amenities.

Annual Support Campaign

At the Y, we are for everyone. We'd like to share a story with you about Jen. Jen found the Y because she missed her husband. Jen and her 3 young children, all under age 3, were acutely aware of the challenges they faced being on their own while her husband was serving in the military, stationed in Iraq. She was terrified for her husband and eager to find strength for her children. Jen's children were too young to understand the full breadth of the situation and their exuberance became an irresitible breath of fresh air for the staff when they came in together, almost daily. Jen understood that while this wasn't the traditional family time that she craved, the Y could become the family that would help her through this time in their lives.

On leave between two tours abroad, her husband Ed visited her Y family and thanked everyone for being so supportive to his loved ones. It gave him peace of mind to know that they were genuinely supported and cared for by their new friends at the Y. The reason we are sharing this with you is because the Y is a special place for families to spend time together and we want to make sure that everyone has the chance to strengthen their family bonds through the Y just like Jen's, regardless of ability to pay.

Give today. Change a life.
