Fundraising as a swimmer allows us to continue to help kids like Dizier who lives in the family shelter in Portland. Thanks to the Y, Dizier was able to escape the everyday struggles of the shelter and attend our Otter Pond Outdoor Adventure Camp for free. At camp she was able to be a kid and release the everyday stress that comes with living at the shelter. She made friends and was exposed to new experiences such as archery. Carmen’s mother is thankful for the opportunity for her daughter to attend camp for free and says she’s much more confident and happy as a result.
Thanks to swimmers like you, last year we provided over $1,200,000 in financial assistance for our youth development programs alone.
