Otter Pond Outdoor Adventure Camp sits on 500 acres of wooded wilderness in Standish. Throughout the summer, campers (ages 5-12 years) explore this wilderness and participate in all the fun and challenging activities that Otter Pond has to offer. Otter Pond also offers a Leader-in-Training program for 13-16 year olds.

Campers will explore our high and low ropes courses and climbing wall, build archery skills, learn to canoe, hunt for frogs and turtles, and learn how to fish. Campers will also swim in the cool water of Otter Pond daily!

Under the supervision of Otter Pond’s engaging staff, campers will have fun developing new skills and exploring new interests. Campers will build character and grow in ways that benefit them long after summer has come to a close.

Thanks to our wonderful partners, Otter Pond Camp participates in the Summer Food Program. All campers are provided with a healthy and delicious breakfast and lunch daily.

BUS TRANSPORTATION

Bus transportation is available from select stops in Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, Gorham, Windham, Cumberland, Gray, and New Gloucester at no additional charge. To learn more, click here.

Specialty Camps - Outdoor Adventure Skills

Our innovative program highlights primitive skill building. Kids will learn to orienteer, fish, climb, hike, and handle a canoe, even when flipped. They’ll build shelters, cook on an open fire, make their own lures, learn to identify local flora and fauna, and they might eat a cricket or two! Select weeks, limited spots. Open to kids ages 9-12. 

Specialty Camps - Creature Catching

You’d be amazed at how many interesting creatures live in the forest and the water of Otter Pond! Campers will capture (and release) specimens to study and scientifically investigate! This week will be full of fishing, frog catching, bug hunting and many other creatures! Create a nature journal to document your discoveries at camp! Select weeks, limited spots. Open to kids ages 5-8.

Specialty Camps - Theater Camp

Join us for all things theater! We will start at the very beginning learning basic theater skills and techniques, writing short skits, designing sets and costumes, rehearsing for the big production, and performing for our families! Friends and family are invited to a theater production at the end of the week! July 13-17, limited spots. Open to kids ages 9-12.

Otter Pond Overnight

This is your chance to sleep under the stars and enjoy an evening swim at Otter Pond! Learn to put up your tent, build a fire, and cook on an open flame. Tents can be provided upon request; campers should bring sleeping bag, pillow, and other overnight gear. Open to kids ages 9-16. July 23 - must be enrolled in camp the same week.

BEFORE & AFTER CARE

We understand that many parents need a safe, enriching place for their children outside of regular camp hours (9:00 am - 4:00pm). Extended care is provided at no additional charge each day from 7:30 - 9:00am and 4:00 - 5:30pm at both our Otter Pond and Pineland camps.

CAMP FEE

Ages 5-8: $270 per session, per child, $50 due at registration. 

Ages 9-12: $265 per session, per child, $50 due at registration

Otter Pond Specialty Camps $270 (ages 5-8) or $265 (ages 9-12) per session, per child, $50 due at registration.

Otter Pond Overnight $90 additional, must be enrolled in camp the same week.

EARLY-BIRD INCENTIVE

Register by June 1, receive $10 off each week of camp.

MULTIPLE SESSION INCENTIVE

Register for seven weeks or more, receive $10 off each week.

SIBLING INCENTIVE

Weekly fees reduced by $10 per session per child for the second and every subsequent child from the same family attending the same camp session.

EXAMPLE: 1st child = $270; 2nd child = $260; 3rd child = $260

Financial Assistance & State Subsidy/Voucher Programs

At the Y, we believe all kids should have the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve through programs like camp. That’s why we are committed to serving everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Financial assistance is available, using a sliding scale based on household income. No one is turned away, so please ask! We also accept Aspire and other State subsidies and vouchers. For more information, please click here.

It is only through the generous support of individuals, businesses, and organizations in our community that we are able to provide this need-based financial assistance. Because of their generosity, the YMCA of Southern Maine provided more than $1.1 million in financial assistance and program support to children last year, giving more children access to summer camp and other youth development programs that nurture their potential.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Please make all checks payable to: YMCA of Southern Maine

Please remember, until all required forms are completed and submitted, and required payments are made, your camp session is not secured. In addition, a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $50 per week is required to hold the camper's spot. This deposit will be applied to the cost of the camp. One child per form. Please complete all sections neatly.

Weekly balances are due in full the Wednesday before camp starts through an automatic draft payment (credit card or checking account). If an automatic payment is not possible, please contact the Camp Director. We want to work with all families and will not turn a child away due to financial need.

Checks, credit card payments, and bank account drafts returned to us by the bank will incur a $20 fee. If your payment is returned to us, all future payments must be made with cash, money order, or cashier's check.

Cancellations & Refunds

All deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Weekly program fees for campers who leave for behavioral reasons will not be refunded. For cancellations other than verifiable medical reasons, tuitions paid in advance (minus deposit) will be refunded if we receive written notice with reason for withdrawal at least two weeks before the start of the sessions.
