Change A Life!

Each year the YMCA of Southern Maine has an Annual Support Campaign to raise contributions to support our financial assistance program. This program ensures that all of our programs and services are accessible to all, regardless of ability to pay.

All contributions to our Annual Support Campaign are greatly appreciated. Please View Our Giving Levels and then read below to see how your generosity could benefit a child, individual, or family in your community.

WE ARE FOR EVERYONE.

As one of the nation's leading non-profits for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y uses each gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in our own neighborhood.

Each donation will ensure...

...that the Y nurtures the potential of every child and teen through our YOUTH DEVELOPMENT focus.  We are helping kids discover who they are meant to be and teaching them skills to reach their full potential.

...that the Y improves the nation's health and well-being through out HEALTHY LIVING focus.  More families can reconnect and grow together in spirit, mind, and body.

...that the Y gives back and provides support to our neighbors through our SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY focus.  Through volunteerism and fundraising or our adaptive services philosophy, honoring international effots or commitment to our men's dormitory program, we give back because it is the right thing to do.

Everyone deserves access to opportunities that help them realize their full potential, regardless of ability to pay.  That's why the YMCA of Southern Maine's Annual Support Campaign is so important because it raises contributions for those who need financial assistance.

OUR STORIES

We'd like to share a story about Robin and how the Y has impacted her life.

Robin travels up from Florida with her husband to enjoy summers in Maine.  She has been coming to the Y for a few summers now and has found a passion in cycling and enjoys the class very much.  Robin has made many new friends, not only in the class, but throughout the Y.  She also enjoys the time she spends watching her grandchildren swim in the pool.  This past summer, when Robin joined the class again, she was requiring more help than usual and her husband came in to inform us that she may need additional help getting her bike set up, etc.  After conversations with her daughter, we learned that Robin has Alzheimer's and that it is progressing to a point where she has a tough time with body awareness.  Robin openly said that she loves cycling because it's something she can confidently do and that doesn't require much coordination.  On a different day, we happened to run into Robin as she was trying to find her keys and she said, "I won't let this bring me down."

This is one of many stories where the Y provides individuals with support for their health and well-being.  The Y strengthens community through healthy living.  The reason we are sharing this with you is because we believe that everyone, regardless of financial ability, deserves the opportunity to benefit from the Y like Robin.

YOUR IMPACT

Your gift to the Y helps strengthen your community.  One in three Y members receive some level of financial assistance each year - that's almost 7,000 members and a total of over $763,000.  Here are a few ways you can help:

             nurturing his potential.
